Adolf Frohner (March 12, 1934 in Groß-Inzersdorf,
Lower Austria; † 24 January 2007 in Vienna) was an Austrian painter,
graphic artist and sculptor. His tomb is located in the cemetery of
Vienna Grinzing.

Adolf Frohner attended the
Collegiate School in Zwettl, and the Piarist Gymnasium in Krems. 1952
moved Frohner, the painting was initially self-learned, to Vienna, and
was guest at Herbert BoecklAkademie of Fine Arts. From 1955 was Frohner
as an advertising designer for the association of electrical industry,
from 1959 as art critic. Using Boeckls he received 1961 a scholarship
to him to study in Paris enabled, where he Nouveaux Realistes met and
decided in the future as a freelance artist to work. 1962, he presented
his work in the gallery Young Generation in Vienna at the

first, he was a representative of the object and action art, and was
with the three-Einmauerung together with Hermann Nitsch, Otto Muehl,
and the publication of the manifesto blood organ in the year 1962 on
the creation of the Viennese Actionists. The separation of the Viennese
Actionists followed another residence in Paris, where the employees in
the studio Daniel Spoerris. A broader, international public opinion, he
was appointed Austria's representative at the Biennale de Sao Paulo
1969. 1970 he took part in the Biennale di Venezia.
Later he
turned to painting and graphic picture to the table. A recurring motif
in Frohners images is violence, often tied represented by women, which
violated.
1972 was Frohner with the Austrian State Prize. In
the same year he began his job as a professor at the University of
Applied Arts in Vienna. From 1985 until 2005, he led a master class for
painting. 1987 he was appointed dean chosen was from 1989 until 1991
Prorektor and from 1999 until 2005 Board of the Institute of Fine Arts.
On 19 January 2007, a few days before his death, was the
ground-breaking ceremony for Frohner-Forum in Krems-stone. As part of a
cultural and communications center to be an exhibition hall for works
Frohners and other contemporary artists. At the request Frohners should
avoid the designation Museum, as a museum dedicated only to be
deceased. The reality brought him into position.
